Led by 4Cs Students, Change to Student Trustee Statute Becomes Law

Last week, Governor Charlie Baker signed the Fiscal Year 2021 budget into law, bringing with it a change in eligibility requirements for Student Trustees at community colleges and state universities in Massachusetts. The effort to change the decades-old law, and address the significant equity issues it has caused in recent years, was led by Cape Cod Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) President, Caitlin Marotta, and Vice President, Lindzie White.

Led by 4Cs Students, Change to Student Trustee Law Passes State Senate

The Massachusetts State Senate has passed an amendment that would change eligibility requirements for Student Trustees at community colleges and state universities allowing part-time students to hold the position. The effort to change the decades-old law, and address the significant equity issues it has caused in recent years, was led by Cape Cod Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) President, Caitlin Marotta, and Vice President, Lindzie White.

Cape Cod Community College Inducts Newest Members to Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society

On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, Cape Cod Community College will induct new members into their chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the renowned international honor society for two-year colleges. Through 4Cs’ chapter of PTK, known as Alpha Upsilon Mu, students will gain access to special scholarship opportunities, career training and advice, national recognition for their academic achievements, and special notation on college transcripts.

4Cs Launches the First Micro-credential Digital Badge Program

In a continuing effort to offer the most relevant and timely education and training programs, Cape Cod Community College has launched a “Professional Skills Digital Badging Program” to help community members enhance their resumes and local businesses strengthen their workforce and employee credentials. The Digital Badging Program is the first of its kind in Massachusetts and will launch in November with four content areas: Intercultural Fluency, Resilience, Initiative and Collaboration.

(BORN) Unanimously Votes to Give “Full Approval” Status to 4Cs Nursing Program

On Wednesday, September 9, members of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) voted unanimously to reinstate full-approval status to the Nursing program at Cape Cod Community College. The vote comes two years after BORN had given the program a “warning” status, requiring the College improve National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) test scores after first-time pass rate scores fell below 80-percent, and maintain full compliance with all BORN regulations.
