4Cs Launches Speaker Series to Address Diversity, Equity, and Protection of Community

To foster robust and thought provoking conversation about diversity, the newly established Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee at Cape Cod Community College has launched a monthly virtual speaker series at the College called “Intentional Critical Conversations.”

The first virtual speaking event will take place Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 2:00–3:30pm via Zoom. Robert Barrows, Chief of Police for Bunker Hill Community College, will deliver his presentation, “An Oh-So Ordinary Tale With and Extraordinary Ending” free of charge for all members of the communities we serve. Chief Barrows will speak about his personal experiences with the criminal justice system as a young person and the lessons learned as he grew and eventually moved into law enforcement.

Chief Barrows is a former member of the Special State Police of Massachusetts and a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard. For the past eleven years, he has served as the Chief of Police for Bunker Hill Community College. He brings with him a rich history of community service and dedication to the rehabilitation and employment of those who have been previously incarcerated. He also recently completed the YW LeadBoston leadership program, design to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. He is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, International Chief of Police Association, The Massachusetts Chief of Police Association, the Massachusetts Association of Campus Law Enforcement, and the Massachusetts Community College Chiefs.
