Cape Cod Community College to Hold Three Free Admissions Information Sessions for Parents, Students

As local high school students and their families prepare for “what’s next” when their academic year finishes up, Cape Cod Community College (“4Cs”) will be holding three Admissions Information Sessions designed to help them navigate their next steps. Each session is designed for parents, guardians, and high school students in grades 9-12 and will cover everything they need to know about starting at 4Cs for the Fall 2024 semester or beyond.

Cape Cod CC Becomes First Community College to Adopt the Okanagan Charter for Campus Health and Wellbeing

Cape Cod Community College (“4Cs”) in Massachusetts has become the first community college in the United States to officially adopt the “Okanagan Charter,” an international statement of commitment to promote health and wellbeing in all aspects of the College community. Created in 2015, the Charter provides institutions of higher education worldwide with common language, principles, and framework to become “health and wellbeing” promoting campuses. Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Maura Weir, Chief Wellness Officer for Cape Cod Community College, the Charter was adopted officially on Tuesday, January 10 as the College kicked off “Mental Wellness Month.”

Cape Cod Community College’s Project Forward Program to Host a Holiday Market on December 7

The Project Forward program at Cape Cod Community College will be hosting their annual “Holiday Pop-Up Market” on their West Barnstable campus on Thursday, December 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The market will be set up in the College’s Grossman Commons building and will feature homemade crafts, gifts, and baked goods prepared by students in their Retail and Art and Entrepreneurship area of the program.

On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, Cape Cod Community College inducted its newest members into their chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the renowned international honor society for two-year colleges. Through 4Cs’ chapter of PTK, known as Alpha Upsilon Mu, students will gain access to special scholarship opportunities, career training and advice, and national recognition for their academic achievements.

Cape Cod CC Awarded $2.25 Million in Title III Funds to Support Retention, Equity, and Student Success

Cape Cod Community College has been awarded a $2.25 million Title III grant to improve equity, retention, and student success by expanding student support services and technology. Granted by the US Department of Education, the funds will be distributed at roughly $450,000 per year over five years. Title III funds like this are granted to institutions that serve a high number of students with high economic need.

Cape Air Donates New Aircraft to the Cape Cod Community College Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Program

This week, in continued support of aviation education and local talent development, Cape Air gifted Cape Cod Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program a recently retired Cessna 402c aircraft for student training. The new aircraft joins the AMT’s programs growing fleet – including two other donated planes from Cape Air – at their facilities in Plymouth Municipal Airport.

Cape Cod Community College Receives Suicide Prevention Grant to Create Internal, External Mental Health Structures

Cape Cod Community College (“4Cs”) has received the prestigious Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant to continue their work in providing internal and external support systems for students. The grant will provide the College with $306,000 over three years to expand an infrastructure so its Student Wellness team can better identify and intervene with students at risk for mental health and substance use issues before they reach crisis. 4Cs is one of 25 awardees of the funding nationwide and is the only recipient in Massachusetts.
