Across our community, both at the K-12 level and in higher education, we are many years into our collective efforts preparing the next generation of well-educated and well-trained professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). These efforts began years ago, through a groundswell of support responding to the growing needs of the local and global economy, stepping our collective efforts up in how we offer STEM education while enhancing access.

Cape Cod Community College Launched New “Blue Economy” Degree With Enrollment Open Immediately

With the new Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center now opened on their West Barnstable campus, Cape Cod Community College has launched a STEM-focused degree enabling students to take further advantage of the new space. With classes starting as early as October 31, the College has launched an “Applied Economics of Coastal and Ocean Environments” Associate Degree.

Cape Cod Community College Officially Opens 37,000 Square Foot Science and Engineering Center

On Thursday, September 29, Cape Cod Community College formally opened the new Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center on their West Barnstable campus. The building, which has been in various stages of development for more than ten years, has been in construction for the past two years in the heart of the College’s main campus in West Barnstable. The 2-story, 37,000 square foot building joins Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in one highly visible hub, and immediately becomes a flagship hub for STEM education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
