Kendrick Lamar Delivers Revolutionary Album

The highly anticipated Kendrick Lamar album “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” was met with tears and smiles from his fans on social media. It had been five years since Lamar’s last release. His 2017 album “Damn” won a Pulitzer Prize, becoming the first hip-hop album to ever win the award, also making Kendrick Lamar the first ever rapper to win. People knew “Damn” would be a difficult album to top even for the artist himself.

Student Wellness Brings Self Care to the Community

Wellness Wednesdays are a new event in 4C’s. An information table is set up in the Grossman Commons cafeteria every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is overseen by Cheryl Kramer, the case manager of Student Wellness.

Red Ribbon Week Promotes Drug-Free Lifestyle

Thirty seven years have passed since the death of Enrique Camarena, a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in 1985. The first Red Ribbon week was held in 1988 to honor her death and is celebrated across the nation to create a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. It is held at 4C’s yearly from Oct. 23-31. The first Red Ribbon days at 4Cs for this year were hosted by Student Wellness and the Collegiate Recovery Program on Oct. 25-26.

‘Redeem Team’: Olympic Hoops Squad Rebounds

Team USA’s men's basketball team is always expected to win the gold, nothing less. In 2004, America won the bronze with many fans calling the team a joke. Netflix has released a documentary called “The Redeem Team” to tell the story of how the 2008 team redeemed USA’s status and won the gold.

Students Explore Craft of Creative Writing

With the fall semester already on a roll, the 4C’s clubs have begun to take the reign on student life. Among them is the creative writing club. It helps students strengthen their writing as well as giving them a welcoming space. It is entirely voluntary to share one’s work, but those who do can receive constructive response from the club. The group mainly focuses on short fiction, poetry, and non-fiction with creative elements. The creative writing club meets on Wednesdays from 2 to 3:15 p.m.

You also have a unique perspective on the world that gravitates you toward certain interests. You have passions, opinions, and, most important, a sense of character. A conglomeration of these basic ingredients is all that a leader needs to impact a community. Now, I know what you may be thinking (I’m talking to you, introverts): Me? A leader? And the answer is yes.

Spooky Halloween Events Crawling Their Way to 4C’s

With Halloween right around the corner, 4C’s has plenty of events to make for some spooktacular fun. The Janus Players will hold “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Tilden Arts Center Studio Theatre. All students are welcome. There will be candy goody bags for all guests and a costume contest, in which guests can cast their votes for the costume they like best.

Tips From the Wellness Department

The Wellness department is ready to help. The Student Wellness Office was established in 2019 and is located in the Life Fitness Center here on campus. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program is designed to work with students to explore and grow toward healthy life habits. It helps students with their health, well-being, relationships, and/or academic performance. It offers short-term mental health counseling and an on-campus food pantry.
