Cape Cod CC Bringing Tony-Nominated Comedy The Minutes to the Tilden Arts Center

October 21, 2024

The Performing Arts Program at Cape Cod Community College (4Cs) will present Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award nominee The Minutes at the Tilden Arts Center on their West Barnstable campus beginning Thursday, November 7. The comedy, penned by Tracy Letts, portrays a small town council planning its Founders' Day celebration. Filled with backstabbing, personal agendas, and pet peeves, The Minutes explores local politics and the tangible effects of attempting to rewrite history.

The Minutes takes us from a mundane, and often absurd, town council meeting to a gut-wrenching self-examination of origin stories,” said Vana Trudeau, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Performing Arts at 4Cs and the Director of the show. “With a provocative plot twist, Tracy Letts challenges us to examine the impact of the stories we pass on generationally and the lengths we are willing to go to preserve the legacy of our communities.”

In addition to Trudeau, the production team includes Tilden Arts Center Technical Director Brian Rice and Assistant Technical Director Kendra Murphy (lighting design); adjunct faculty member Matt Kohler (scenic design); and Kimberly Monteiro (box office manager).  Students Charlie Lane and Annastasia Gibbs (costumes); Raven Berry and Griffin Erdman (props); George Beare, Andrea Molina Marin, and Nicolle Taylor (stage managers); Tom Frederick and Connor McLeod (dramaturgs) are joined by Summer Bates (stage management mentor); Amy Canaday (costume mentor) and Theresa Cedrone (dramaturg) as guest artists.

The cast includes 4Cs students Tyler Murphy, Dahlia Viprino, Ray Bishop, Matt Whelan, Jackson Kinsella, Caroline Lane, Jennifer Marshal, Robert O'Connor, and Grace Michel, and community members Joe O'Connor and Tony Denault.

The Minutes opens in the Studio Theatre of the Tilden Arts Center on Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. and continues November 8, 9, November 14-16, and November 21-23 at 7:00 p.m. with Saturday matinees on November 9, 16, and 23 at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $5-$20 and may be reserved by calling the Tilden Arts Center Box Office at 774.330.4044 or by visiting TildenArtsCenter.Ludus.com.
