New members elected to the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation Board

At the annual meeting of the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation Board of Directors on June 26, five new members were elected to serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2023.

“We are thrilled to add these talented and dedicated individuals to an already active, deeply-committed Board of Directors,” says Rachael Aiken, Chair of the Foundation Board. “They bring a wealth of experience, as well as a passion for the importance of higher education in our community.”

Maria Anderson of Chatham. Ms. Anderson splits her time between Chatham and Hanover, NH., where she is Chief Finance & Operations Officer in the Division of Arts & Sciences at Dartmouth College. She has been working in higher education for most of her career and has come to Cape Cod her entire life. She has been a mentor for the Boston Public School Community Scholars Program, and she has been involved as a volunteer and fundraiser with Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.

Henry (Hank) Holden of Chatham. He is an active volunteer who has been involved with many local nonprofits, including the Cape Cod Foundation Board, the Creative Arts Center Board, the Cape Symphony Board and Cape Cod Hospital Event Chair. In addition, he has served his alma mater as alumni trustee for Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Mr. Holden retired in 2006, as Managing Director, Commonfund Securities, Inc.

Rufus Jones of Yarmouth Port. He is active with First Congregational Church of Yarmouth as Chair of the Board of Trustees as well as member of its Finance and Investment Committee. He is a mentor of Cape Cod Community College students with Advocates for Community College (ACCE). Mr. Jones is a member of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth and Director of Club Administration, and Chair of its DEIB committee. He has served on the board for Kings Way Condominium Trust. Mr. Jones is a retired business insurance vice president at Travelers Insurance Company.

Paul McCormick, Jr. of West Dennis. He is a 2013 graduate of Cape Cod Community College. He is actively involved in the community as Chairman, Town of Dennis Planning Board; President, South Side Civic Association; Finance Co-Chair, Cape and Islands Boy Scouts of America; Vice Chair, Caleb Chase Foundation; and Member, Dennis Economic Development Committee. Mr. McCormick is a realtor at Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty in Chatham.

Polyanna Rocha of Sandwich. She is Chair of the Sturgis Charter Public School’s Board of Trustees. She is fluent in English and Portuguese and is an active voice for international/ESL students. She is from Brazil and moved to this country in her early high school years. Ms. Rocha earned a degree in accounting at Cape Cod Community College, and went on for her bachelor’s at UMass, and a master’s in taxation at Bentley University. She is an entrepreneur, owning a business on Cape Cod, as well as working as a tax accountant at BDO.

Becky Dowd of Marshfield was elected in March 2023, to a three-year term on the Board. She has served many years on the CCCC Educational Foundation benefit golf tournament committee. She is on the Marketing Communications Committee for WE CAN, and she is a member of the Board of Directors for the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, and member of Women United, an affinity group of the Cape & Islands United Way. She is also active in the Marshfield Boys & Girls Club and the Marshfield Food Pantry. Ms. Dowd is a Vice President and Financial Consultant with Rockland Trust in Hyannis.

Founded in 1983, the Educational Foundation has raised $40 million in the past 40 years to support the mission of Cape Cod Community College. The Foundation raises capital funds for renovations and new campus buildings (the Wilkens Science & Engineering Center), provides nearly $250,000 annually in student scholarships, and supports research and professional development opportunities for faculty.
