Cape Cod Regional STEM Network at 4Cs Looks to Pair Pre-K Through 12 Educations with “Teacher-in-Residence” Opportunities
February 9, 2023The Cape Cod Regional STEM Network at Cape Cod Community College is seeking applications from local Pre-K through 12 STEM teachers in the Cape and Islands region as part of their “Teacher-in-Residence” program. The Teacher-in-Residence program pairs a STEM teacher with STEM-rich host institution in their region for a two-week externship. In addition to a $1000 stipend for completing their externship, teachers will also receive $500 towards a field trip to support their curriculum in the 2023-24 school year.
Any teacher that teaches science, technology, engineering, or math in the K-12 system on Cape Cod and the Islands, or in Plymouth or Wareham, is eligible to apply. Priority will be given to teachers from under-represented minority populations in STEM or those who teach a majority of students in under-represented communities.
Teachers in the program will be matched with host sites based on their interests, goals, and availability. Previous host sites have included Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Smithers Viscient, SenCorp White, Chatham Macroni Maritime Center, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Ocean Protection Advocacy Kids (OPAK), Teledyne Marine, and the Atlantic White Shark Conservatory. Applicants do not necessarily have to have a curriculum unit in mind to apply as they may be developed during or after the externship in partnership with host institutions.
The Cape Cod Regional STEM Network at Cape Cod Community College is the hub for the region’s STEM Learning Ecosystem. Created in 2004, the state’s Regional STEM Networks connect educators, community leaders, and industry partners to further excite and energize students about opportunities in STEM .
