4Cs Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Program Hosts Career Fair for Students, Alumni

February 3, 2022

More than 70 students and alumni from the Cape Cod Community College Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program gathered at the College’s facilities at Plymouth Municipal Airport for a first-of-its-kind Career Fair on February 2, 2022.

Current students in the renowned program, along with several recent alumni, were able to speak directly with aviation professionals from businesses that are currently hiring. Among those employers were CommutAir, Cape Air, Port City Air, PlaneSense, Inc., Bombardier, Republic Airways, United Airways, Heritage Turbines, Inc., American Airlines, PSA, and G.E. Aviation.

“Our AMT students and graduates are well known in the aviation industry as having world-class talent and career-ready skills,” said Michael Sasso, Director of the AMT program at the College. “It was thrilling to get to see so many employers meet them directly and see for themselves just how talented and well prepared our students are when they graduate from our AMT program. Giving employers the chance to be a part of our world class training facility, while surrounded by the amazing aircraft and equipment our students train on, made it even more special.”

Prior to the Career Fair, program staff and faculty also met with employers and local officials for an overview of the AMT program, and a tour of the classrooms and three hangars the make up the educational and training facilities at the Airport. Since launching in September 2016, the AMT program at 4Cs has served more than 225 students, with over 80%  going straight into careers either before or immediately following graduation.

The AMT program at 4Cs is a unique, 24-month program that trains students to become highly skilled technicians in airframe and powerplant repair and certification, including full FAA certification utilizing the most recent airmen certification standards and a very well-seasoned and strongly rooted aviation based faculty. Our location at Plymouth Municipal Airport, allows the program to be the only one of its kind locally, providing an Associate in Applied Sciences degree and certificate options in aviation maintenance at a public community college.

Enrollment in the AMT program is a great value proposition as it allows students have access to financial aid, scholarships, and can even utilize housing options at Bridgewater State University to complete their experience and make the process of earning a federal trade certification and a college degree both affordable and attainable simultaneously, while leading them to a very lucrative career start in aviation.
