Cape Cod Community College’s 2021 Commencement Ceremony to be Held Virtually on May 27

April 6, 2021

Cape Cod Community College’s 2021 Commencement ceremony, celebrating the graduating class of 2021, will be delivered virtually on YouTube on May 27, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The event will feature photos and videos of graduating students, remarks from College faculty and alumni, and a keynote speech from 4Cs alumni Rear Admiral Douglas Verissimo, Commander of the US Navy’s Carrier Strike Group NINE.

The College invites graduating students to the West Barnstable campus on May 7, 2021 to pick up free congratulatory yard signs, caps and gowns, and “watch-party” giveaway bags. College faculty and staff will be on campus to cheer them on for the pick-up of Commencement materials.

“Last year, in response to COVID-19, we successfully pivoted our Commencement ceremony to a virtual platform, giving our graduates and their families a safe way to celebrate their monumental achievements. This year, with public health remaining top-of-mind, we’re excited to once again have a successful virtual celebration,” said John Cox, President of Cape Cod Community College. “We have a great event lined up, and we are working hard to make sure our graduates get their moment to shine. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone at the YouTube Premiere on May 27.”

Similar to the College’s 2020 virtual Commencement ceremony, the event will premiere on the Cape Cod Community College YouTube Channel. Viewers can watch and participate in a corresponding live-chat, offering congratulations and sharing messages in real-time.

Real Admiral Verissimo, a 1987 graduate of Cape Cod Community College and our 1999 Alum of the Year, will serve as Commencement Speaker. A Falmouth native, he has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from California State University, a Master of Science in Campaign Planning and Strategy from the Joint Forces Staff College, and is a graduate of the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and various other personal, unit, and service awards.

In addition to the May 7 on-campus pick-up date, graduates will also have the opportunity to get their caps and gowns from the Campus Bookstore starting May 3. The Bookstore will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Fridays and may be contacted at [email protected].
