Cape Cod Community College Awarded TRAIN Grant for Addiction Recovery Coach Precertification and Google IT Support Programs

February 22, 2021

Cape Cod Community College has been awarded $97,364 from the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE) as part of the ongoing Training Resources and Internship Networks (TRAIN) Program. The Center for Corporate and Professional Education at Cape Cod Community College (CCAPE) will administer two grant-funded career-training programs in the spring of 2021 utilizing this funding: the Addiction Recovery Coach Pre-Certification and Wellness Training Program and the Google IT Support Professional Certificate Program.

Beginning in March, and offered in an instructor led remote live streaming format, the Addiction Recovery Coach and Google IT Support Professional programs will give community members the chance to earn certificates and participate in an internship with a local employer.

“The College is dedicated to offering programs that put people on a path to a sustainable career,” said Tammi Jacobsen, Director of Workforce Development and Training. “Both of these programs align with the Regional Workforce Blueprint where healthcare and information technology occupations are a priority for this region.”

The Addiction Recovery Coach Program was developed for those in recovery from substance use, with at least nine months of sobriety, who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of addiction recovery treatment and services. In collaboration with Google, the Google IT Professional Certificate Program offers a career path in customer service in information technology and is ideal for service workers who have been displaced in our region. Both programs target the unemployed, underemployed and new entrant populations in the Cape Cod region; however, anyone who is interested is encouraged to apply.

The College will host a series of virtual information sessions to educate prospective participants about the two programs, including an outline of the coursework, schedule, career path, internship process, and student expectations. Registration is open now for both programs, applications and more information at the link below:
