4Cs to Require COVID-19 Vaccination for Spring 2022

On Monday, September 20, the presidents of all Massachusetts Community Colleges announced that students, faculty, and staff at the Commonwealth’s 15 community colleges – including Cape Cod Community College – must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to be on campus starting in January 2022.

While a significant number of students, faculty, and staff are already vaccinated or are in the process of becoming vaccinated, we are seeking to increase the health and safety of the learning and working environment amid a rise in the number of new cases of COVID-19 across the State. This aligns with the increased access and availability of vaccines, the Food and Drug Administration’s full and pending approvals of available vaccines, and current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

For students, this means proof of vaccination will be required prior to the start of in-person classes starting in 2022. For faculty and staff, the same requirement will be necessary to be on campus in any capacity. Students seeking to register for courses that do not include any in-person component, and who do not plan to come on campus for any reason for the Spring 2022 semester, will not be required to provide documentation of vaccination.

Throughout this pandemic our goal as an institution has always been to prioritize public health and provide flexible options for education for our students. Even with our transition to increased options in online, remote, hybrid, and hyflex classes, we continue to have many members of our College community coming to campus for classes, meetings, or support services. By ensuring vaccination status for our College community, we significantly strengthen our capacity to safely provide these opportunities moving forward.

As we move through the Fall semester, and we codify processes, exemptions, and other vaccine-related procedures, we will be in communication with you so you are prepared and knowledgeable.
