4Cs to Host Virtual “Earth Week” Events Every Day Next Week

Cape Cod Community College’s Student Engagement Office, in partnership with the student-led 4Cs Orchard Club, will host a full slate of virtual events next week as the College celebrates “Earth Week.” Events will run every day the week of April 19, highlighted by “Environmentalism and Social Justice: Challenging Stereotypes” on Wednesday evening.

“Environmentalism and Social Justice: Challenging Stereotypes” is a panel discussion that will tackle the long and short term implications and crossroads of social justice activism and environmental conservation. It will take place Wednesday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom with panelists Linda Coombs, Wampanoag Historian and Scholar, Dr. John Kucish of Bridgewater State University, Camile Madison, Wampanoag Language Institute Faculty and Scholar, Dr. Madhavi Venkatesan, Executive Director of Sustainable Practices and Assistant Professor at Northeastern University, and Joshua Maloney, 4Cs student and Environmental Social Justice Advocate.

These events are open to the community and are free to attend. Below is a full schedule of events:

Monday, April 19

2: 00 p.m. – Tie Dye Party and Tutorial Video with Ethan Hansen, President of the 4Cs Orchard Club

Tuesday, April 20

24-Hour Challenge – Clean-Up Mother Earth Day Challenge

6:00 p.m. – Music and Healing with singer/songwriter Alicia Mathewson

Wednesday, April 21

12:00 p.m – Herbalism Workshop with Professor Keli “Swan” Gates

6:30 p.m. – Environmentalism and Social Justice: Challenging Stereotypes Panel Discussion

Thursday, April 22

12:00 p.m. – Horticulture and Agriculture Workshop with Professors Catherine Etter and Diana Norton

Friday, April 24

9:30 a.m. – Mushroom Foraging Workshop with Professor Keli “Swan” Gates
