Simple Advice To Help End The Semester Strong
by Yasmine Tavares
It’s that time of year when finals are coming up, exams are piling on, and the weather is getting nicer. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to keep on track when I know the end is near. It’s stressful to fall behind or not know what you’re doing in your classes. Having a routine or setting up a certain way to keep yourself organized really does yourself justice.
If you don’t have this already, separate your work into color coded folders. Label them so you can keep track of where all your work needing to be turned in, or work needed to be done for each class is kept.
Phones can be a huge distraction when you need to truly lock in on assignments and you might not even notice it until the clock has jumped an hour already. Set up a focus mode or Do Not Disturb on your phone, where you can silence notifications from certain apps and people. You can get so much done without your phone buzzing all the time.
Set a timer for your study sessions. Give yourself at least 45 minutes to do an assignment and then take a 15-minute break. Go back to the assignment for another 45 minutes and take a 10-minute break. Finding a cycle that works for you will keep you productive but give you time to rest a little in between too.
Make “To Do” lists to keep up. You could create one in your notes app or even just the old fashioned way, in a notebook or on a piece of paper. Make it so you have that satisfaction of checking off the tasks. It makes you feel so much more accomplished and helps you make sure everything you need to be done is done in time and smoothly.
For a fun one, make a new playlist of all songs that you love, that you can play as background music while you study for those exams. It’s a fun task to do in your free time and also makes your studying a little less painful since you get to listen to songs you love.
Hopefully you end off this semester stress-free and you find helpful ways to get yourself going for your upcoming exams and last-minute assignments before summer officially starts. Only a couple more weeks till classes end, you can do it!
