Primary Elections Are Coming!
by Jenna Schmidt
Super Tuesday is coming up on March 5. Massachusetts is one of the 15 states participating in Super Tuesday for their presidential primary election. The primary election dictates the two major candidates in the presidential election. One from the republican party and one from the democratic party. People vote within their registered party or can draw either ballot if they are registered as unenrolled in Massachusetts. Voters can register or change their affiliation for the primary election as late as Feb. 24. This is also the first day for in-person early voting which lasts until March 1. The last day to apply for a mail-in ballot in Massachusetts is three days later, on Feb. 27. Super Tuesday is March 5, and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The ballots will also include candidates for state party committees, local ward leaders in places that have wards, and candidates for town committees. Locally, there will also be an election to fill an unexpired House term in the sixth Worcester District, which includes Dudley, Southbridge, and parts of Charlton and Spencer.
