Looking To Get Published? Here’s How
by Jenna Schmidt
Cape Cod Community College publishes student writing and art in three publications.
The MainSheet is the school's newspaper, written by students for the 4Cs community. Most stories that are in the Mainsheet are written by students taking a Journalism class or by the student editors of the paper. Other students can submit stories to the Mainsheet for consideration as well. The MainSheet is published every two weeks during the fall and spring semesters. Professor Tim Miller is the adviser for the MainSheet and the student editors are Amber Rivard and Olivia Appleton.
The Sea Change is an arts magazine featuring poetry, short stories, fiction, and nonfiction, as well as artwork and photography. The Sea Change is also put together by students. Submission to the Sea Change is open to all students and faculty with a deadline of Feb. 16. Producing a Magazine of the Arts is the class that reviews submissions and decides what gets in, the design, and how the magazine is set up. Professor Rebecca Griffin is the faculty adviser for the class.
The Write Stuff is a collection of student literary work selected by a handful of professors who work in the Department of Language and Literature. The Write Stuff considers any academic student writing for publication. The Write Stuff is published each summer and accepts submissions in an online form or in person along with an entry form at North 204; submit to Cindy Pavlos.
