Where Do 4C’s Students Get Their News?
by Zora Fiset Morin
Over the years, the spread of news has expanded to many different platforms. Whether it be from social media platforms (such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), TV news anchors, or newspapers, news is always available for anyone at any point in time.
People choose different types of news sources for different reasons, some because they trust one more and some because it is more convenient to them.
We asked 4C’s students what was their main source of news and why. Their responses were:
Summer Bates-Smith: “I get my main source of information, honestly, from TikTok, I used to be able to get it from Instagram, but I am no longer on the app. If I’m feeling spicy, I’ll turn on the radio in my car to hear about the news, and if there's any word of mouth from my parents then I’ll go out of my way to look it up.”

Jill Parrott: “I probably get it more from Instagram, because I sit on it for three hours a day.”

Emily Rosa: “I get it from TikTok, because I’m always on it.”

Alyssa Bevans: “I get a lot from social media, like Instagram, but I don’t always trust it, so I usually do my own googling if it’s something that I find interesting. But, other than that, mostly social media, sometimes the news if my parents are watching it.”
