Students Share Constructive Feedback for 4C’s

by Jamison Feeley

Cape Cod Community College is home to many students’ passions, but some students believe it could be better in certain areas. A few students recently spoke up about some of the changes they would like to see at the college.

The topic of advising and the transfer process came up on the topic of change.

"I believe that advice on transferring should be improved. It was a little stressful, but they were more on your own once they told me to go through the Common App," Patricia Moran says.

Students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university can feel lost when it comes to navigating the transfer procedure, and this student's experience appears to be no exception.

Natalia Rimple, another student, voiced her mixed opinions about the lack of a sense of community on campus.

"I've been here almost three years and will graduate next spring; it's a good school overall, but you come here for school and leave; there's no real community here; you just come here and leave…There isn't much to bring people together," she says.

Creating a feeling of community on campus can, in some cases, be beneficial for student’s well-being and overall college experience, and it is evident that Cape Cod Community College needs to focus on this judging by this student’s perspective.

Hawkin Kenny proposed that some online professors be willing to meet in person rather than offer lessons entirely over Zoom.

"I believe it would be far more beneficial if some of the online instructors were willing to meet in person rather than via Zoom…That would be much more helpful, especially if they are already on campus," Kenny says.

While online classes were critical during the pandemic, some students like Kenny may find it more beneficial to meet with their instructors in person.

The college's response to feedback was something Curtis Tyler would like to see improvement on.

“The way Cape Cod Community College responds to feedback is one area I would like to see improved…I believe there are a few ways to sometimes improve the response time," Tyler says.
