by Demetri Grevelis
We're that bridge" between student body and administration. Acting president of the Student
Government Association (SGA) at 4Cs, Kyle Robbins reminds us of the important role it
plays in the college ecosystem. The SGA secured funding from administration to
create the new club room in the Upper Grossman Commons. Robbins detailed the SGA's agenda
and the importance of student engagement during our informative interview.
He mentioned the upcoming election for student government, happening Feb. 14-15 during the
"Big Love. Big Support" event. Robbins also informed us that it is "open to the student body for
anybody who wants to run for position," and emphasized the importance of student's
participation in voting.
He further detailed the "Big Love. Big Support" event, and the prizes students can win. The
event is sponsored by the SGA along with President Cox, and will be held in the Grossman
Commons. The SGA will provide students who attend with a box of chocolates. 10 of the boxes
will contain a winning "Golden Ticket" with a QR code. The prizes include two $750
scholarships, a pair of Apple AirPod Pros, and multiple $25 dollar gift cards to 4Cs.
That's almost $2,000 in prizes.
A plan to create and implement discount cards to local businesses for students is on the agenda
as well. Although in the early stages, Robbins expressed his own feelings towards the project,
saying, "The thing I'd say I'm most passionate about... is probably the discount cards." He
mentioned how his previous college had a similar program, and he wanted to implement it
here at 4Cs.
Robbins emphasized the importance of students reaching out to the student government if there
is an issue, large or small. Any student body comment or concern gets moved to the top of their
agenda. He pointed out that student concerns are, "a big issue that needs to be addressed sooner
