How to Survive Finals

by Thomas Schultze

Finals are approaching on May 10, so to stay ahead of the game, students can utilize these tips provided by the 4C’s Tutoring Center and the O’Neill Center to prepare.

The Tutoring Center and the O’Neill Center are available for all students. The O’Neill Center specializes in assisting students who have learning disabilities. They give testing accommodations for students and can get extra time to take a test or exam, with permission from their professor. Students with an accommodation plan are supported to complete their final exams. Students with those accommodations are given three hours to complete their exams.

The Tutoring Center is in Maureen M. Wilkens Hall, Room 111 where students can schedule a time to study with a tutor to help them with their work. They provide different learning centers that deal with different subjects such as the Science, English, and Math center. They are free to be utilized by all students and it is encouraged that all students take advantage of those learning centers. Students are allowed to do their take-home final exams in the Tutoring Center if they are permitted by the professor who distributed their exams. The Reading and Writing Center are available to all students in Maureen M. Wilkens Hall, Room 108, and the Math Learning Center is in the Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center, Room 104. All learning centers are open during the week of finals until May 12.

The upcoming events may help anyone who is still struggling with their work. Anyone who is struggling can help themselves to a final exam care kit on Tuesday, May 2 and Wednesday, May 3 in the Grossman Upper Commons between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students are also free to attend Time Out Tuesday, happening on April 26, May 2 and 9 from 2-3 p.m. in the Life Fitness Center room GR-1 to learn about mindfulness through deep breathing, stretching, and meditation. The Wellness Center is always available for students who need support for mental health.
