Cape Cod Media Conference Set for April 14

by Zora Fiset Morin

Let’s say you dream of working as a reporter, or a film critic, or a radio personality.

How can you make the fantasy a reality?

You can find out at the 2023 Cape Cod Media Conference, to be held April 14 at 4C’s. The conference, sponsored by 4C’s and the college radio station, WKKL (90.7), will host several panels featuring experts involved in various areas of media. Professionals also will offer attendees advice and help them create their personal brand. Admission is free.

Lisa Zinsius, 4C’s media professor and operations director of WKKL, is running the conference. The last media conference was held in 2011.

“It is very exciting, because the world is different,” she says. “Media can be done from home, and this is a HyFlex conference, too. We have somebody that will be attending from Barcelona, and a lot of people from the West Coast.”

4C’s students will introduce the panels and ask questions.

“The students are really actively involved in this,” Zinsius says. “It is very student-driven and community-driven.”

The doors will open for registration at 8:30 a.m., when attendees will have the chance to get their resumes looked over and get headshots taken. As the event goes on, there will be workshops taking place related to all forms of media. The conference, to be held at the science building and at WKKL, is scheduled to end around 3 p.m.

The conference will be open to everyone. Admission is free and includes a free lunch for those who register.
