A Letter From the Editor
by Amber Rivard
Hi everyone,
First and foremost, I want to thank our hard-working MainSheet staffers and dedicated readers for a great semester.
When I first signed up for journalism, three semesters ago, I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Being a psychology major, my eyes have been set on helping people. I soon knew I had another passion, and I needed to incorporate it into my life plans. Another way I can do what I love -- help people -- just in a different way.
Getting to the truth is one of the many things I admire about journalism. Having the ability to educate someone by providing them with the facts is honorable to me. Another beauty of journalism is that you can follow your passions.
Starting this fall, I will report on psychological topics that I think are important for the reader to know or learn more about. I will interview experts who are working or have worked in the field.
Journalism aligns well with many careers, including psychology. Having experience as a journalist can serve you in those careers, even if you choose not to pursue journalism as a profession.
The MainSheet reporters are always encouraged to follow their interests, but this does not mean you can always cover something you are passionate about. Serving the reader is our main priority, and it’s a privilege we don’t take lightly.
I hope you all have a great summer.
Sincerely,
Amber Rivard
