Savannah O’Brien plays a cheerleader – a really evil cheerleader named Tina – in 4C’s upcoming production “She Kills Monsters.”
“She is an evil succubus cheerleader -- one of two, so there's a second cheerleader and we're kind of like a pair, basically,” the 4C’s student says. “I’m the bully of the main character, which has been fun for me to play because it's very much not who I am in real life. It was definitely kind of hard to get into that mindset because she is not a very nice person at all.”
O’Brien is an active member of the 4C’s community. She serves as the vice-president of student government, is the president of the orchard club, and participates in other clubs. This is her first performance in a 4C’s show, but she has been involved in building the set and stagecraft for previous plays.
“I really do try to be involved in as much as I can,” O’Brien says. “I’ve been at 4C’s for quite some time, and the first few semesters that I was here, I really wasn't involved in a lot. Then I started by getting involved with orchard club, and then that grew into student government, and now I'm involved with everything, it seems like, but it has really, really improved my experience here.
“So that's kind of what I tried to communicate to everyone that I have the opportunity to speak to: Just get involved, and if there's not something that fits what you want to do currently, you have the ability to start a new club. … It’s been really helpful to me to make friends, especially (during) COVID.”
