2023 Trip to Peru

by Amber Rivard

The 4C’s Funeral Program is traveling to Peru in 2023 for intercultural studies. But the trip is not centered on any specific major, according to Daniel Shea, professor, and trip leader. All majors are welcomed and encouraged.

This trip’s purpose is to learn the history and culture of Peru. The hope is to have people from all fields on the trip.

“We are all able to look in-depth at our aspect of it, and then we learn based off of each other’s perspective,” Shea said.

"This trip will be an academic educational experience, but I’m not going to be pulling out a projector every night and lecturing, it will be more of we’re going to learn from each other” he said. This trip will give students a chance to meet people from all different fields and give them opportunities to make connections with new individuals.

Professor Scott Anderson has experience with taking 4C’s students abroad on a past trip to Scotland.

“Taking students abroad as an educational experience is essentially about facilitating and enabling the student to broaden their cultural perspectives and awareness,” Anderson said. Through discussion and dialogue questions often surface throughout the whole experience. “The student can reach their own conclusions and bring home greater insight to move forward in life.”

The 13-day trip will depart from Boston on June 7, 2023. All 4C’s students are welcome to join, along with family, friends, and significant others. The price for ages 29 and under is $4,910; for ages 30 and over the price is $5,350. There are multiple options to pay including flexible payment plans, fundraising, and scholarships through EF College Study. The trip includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodation, transportation, full-time expert tour guides, full-time tour director, breakfast and lunch, guided sightseeing, and more.
