Local Connections Through the Cape Cod Baseball League and Beyond

The Cape Cod Baseball League will be starting up again in mid-June. In the last world series 30% of the rosters consisted of former CCBL players. Former coaches for the Chatham Anglers and the Hyannis Harbor Hawks remember their summers coaching fondly. John Schiffner was the head coach for the Chatham Anglers from 1993 to 2017.

Hitting Homeruns from Cape Cod to The World Series

The Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks can thank the Cape Cod Baseball League for nurturing some of the players that helped get them to the World Series. According to the CCBL’s website seven of the Rangers players and nine of the Diamondbacks players competed in the CCBL.

Fall disc golf at burgess park

Since the quarantine began, I have been going with my family to play Disc Golf at Burgess Park in Marstons Mills. The park belongs to the town of Barnstable and is a full 18-”hole” course.

4Cs Students Looking for Intramural Sports

In the display case near the Cape Cod Community College (4Cs) gymnasium, you can see trophies from basketball teams of years past. It’s been over 16 years since 4Cs has had a basketball team, but the 4Cs Kings won their division of the Cape Cod Basketball League (CCBL) in both 2002 and 2003. Despite that previous success, the only basketball games currently offered by the school are pickup games.

Patriots Cut Brown for Conduct

When asked early Friday, September 20 about what Antonio Brown’s role would be in the upcoming game against the New York Jets, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick queued up his usual responses, sounding like a broken record player. Five hours later, Brown was released by Belichick and the Patriots.
