What Do 4C’s Students Think of Social Media?

by Shanel Joisil

Social media has both positive and negative impacts on students’ daily routines. Some may find social media to be a valuable source of information, connection, and entertainment, while others may perceive it as a time waster or a source of stress and anxiety. When catching up with a few peers, I was able to find out what social media apps are beneficial or not beneficial to 4C’s students.

Gianna Oppedisano: “I am in my second year at 4C’s. I think my favorite social media app to use is probably TikTok. There is a lot of diversity when it comes to different creators, which helps cater to a large audience. My least favorite social media app to use is Twitter or now called X. I don’t like using it because I think it’s honestly useless for me. I have the app but never use it. I think Twitter is slowly losing the interest of many people.”

Aidan MacDougall: “I’m a sophomore and I study engineering. My favorite social media app is Snapchat because it allows me to connect with my friends. My least favorite social media app is TikTok because you can get lost in it for hours and become unproductive.”

Michelle Milan: “I’m a junior and my major is psychology. My favorite social media to use is TikTok because it’s what I use to distract myself and just enjoy some funny videos. My least favorite app is probably Instagram because I think a lot of people use it for the wrong reasons to make other people jealous by flexing what they have. There will always be people who find a way to comment something negative about how you look or dress or act. Instagram always comes with the pressure. I feel that there’s more negative than positive.”
