Roll the Dice with 4C’s Gaming Club: A World of Board Game Fun
by Dolfina Allan
Gaming Club is the place to be for any student interested in the world of games.
Gaming Club meets on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m. in the upper level of the Grossman Commons. Any student is welcome to join the Gaming Club.
The current Gaming Club came together in 2022, but there was another version of the club that began in 2019, pre-COVID.
“Most of what we play is board games that I bring, but other people are always welcome to bring their own board games, role-playing games, and video games,” says club president Ryan Smith.
“Some other people have occasionally brought in board games and video games, but we almost always play my board games, of which I have a few hundred to choose. I also bring role-playing games to show anyone who’s interested and has been trying to get one going for a while, but having few people interested and scheduling conflicts have always been a problem.”
One of the members of the club, Ericson Bonilla, answered some questions about the club:
Q: How long have you been in Gaming Club?
A: I’ve been in the club for one year now.
Q: Why did you join?
A: I joined since it seemed like fun, and I was right I’ve been able to play a variety of games I’ve never played before.
Q: Do you enjoy the activities, or wish there was more of something else?
A: I love the activities. One of my favorite games, we play is Tales of the Arabian Nights since it’s a choose-your-own-adventure style game where I accidentally destroyed a civilization once.
Q: Would you recommend this club to other students?
A: I would recommend the club to others because it’s an easy way to meet new friends and take a break from the week when it’s getting stressful.
