Newest Music of Fall 2023
by Nora Bittar
Summer may be coming to an end, but there are still so many things keeping the summer spirit alive. Among them: music. Here is a list of a few popular artists releasing new albums soon.
Popular rap artist, Drake, will release his album “For All the Dogs” on October 6. The album will feature popular artists Nicki Minaj and Bad Bunny as well as others. The artist has released the song “Slime You Out” featuring the singer, SZA. The promotional art for the song depicts a photo actress, Halle Berry; however, she says the rapper never received her consent to use the photo for his song. The song has received positive feedback among fans so far, building up the album's anticipation. This will be his 8th studio album, following his extremely successful 2022 album “Her Loss.” While fans expected the release date to be September 22; the rapper had to postpone its release to continue his tour with rapper, 21 Savage. However, due to Drake’s devoted fan base, it is safe to assume that this album will be a big hit.
Doja Cat is another rapper who has an album coming out on September 22. Her album is titled “Scarlet” and will feature 14 tracks. She has released three songs pre-release date, including the song “Paint the Town Red,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list. However, many fans claim they will no longer be supporting the musician due to statements made by the artist on the app ‘X’. The rapper stated that her 2 most successful albums were “cash-grabs” that her fans “fell for.” While the comments have affected her popularity, the album is still projected to become one of the top albums of the year.
Taylor Swift is arguably the most popular pop star out right now. Taylor’s “Era’s Tour” has grossed over 2.2 billion dollars, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time. The Eras tour helped define the 2023 summer season for many, so a new album helps keep the summer vibe going. Taylor will be releasing her fourth re-recorded album “1989 (Taylor’s version)” on Oct. 27. The album will feature an additional five vault songs, which are just songs that didn’t make the cut during the original release. She’s re-recording her old albums because of issues with her previous record company, Big Machine, along with Scooter Braun, the current owner of her first 6 studio albums. Re-recording her albums will give her ownership and control over her work. The re-release of “1989” and its additional vault songs will definitely only boost Taylor Swift’s popularity.
Sometimes it can be hard to transition from the summer season to the school season, but hearing new music from one of your favorite artists can help make things a little easier.
