Human Services Serving the Community

4C’s hosts events over the school year that cater to the 4C’s community. Whether it be for the plethora of free food, or the friends being made, some attend to experience a sense of community.
On Sept. 29, the Human Services program hosted the Community Partners luncheon meeting. Upwards of 50 people planned to attend from various human services agencies and organizations. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the solarium in the Lorusso Building, human services students were able to network with the community and beyond.
“This Community Partners lunch is an opportunity to share with our Community Partners in the Human Services Community our recent changes and updates to our Human Services Program here at the College, and to hear from our partners any important information and/or changes in their organization-as well as any unmet program needs,” says Robert Ericson, Human Services Coordinator at 4C’s.
One of the main goals from this event, Ericson emphasized, was to build relationships with the community as well as guide 4C’s students down the Human Services path.
“Collaborating and building relationships/partnerships with the community helps us to make sure that we are in synch with what the community employment needs are-all of which impacts and informs our program curriculum,” says Ericson. “Since we place our Human Services students at a variety of agencies-both on Cape and off for their practicums, it makes sense to build and maintain these community relationships-not to mention the linkage with student needs for employment!”
The Human Services program hosts events like these around twice a year so once a semester. If you missed this event, there is always time next semester. Those interested can find the link to RSVP online from the Human Services program next semester.
