First Apartment Must Haves
by Maeve Keane
Finally got your first apartment?
Congratulations, time to move in.
Moving in can be stressful, whether you’re moving to the next town over or across the country. In the weeks leading up to your move, you’re going to want to accumulate several things that will make living in your first apartment easier.
First things first: an instant pot. The instant pot has saved me so much time and effort. It’s like a crockpot on steroids. Everything you can make in the crockpot you can make in the instant pot in half the time. Especially if you’re like me and you’re always at work, with no time to cook, you’re going to love this. It’ll make your life so much easier, and you can try out some great recipes.
Second, you’re going to want to invest in a really nice bed. Not like a bed out of a box online. I made that mistake once. Horrible. Go to a mattress store, try them out, and get a real mattress. It’s a little bit of an expensive purchase, but, according to the National Institutes of Health, you spend about one-third of your life sleeping. If you're going to spend a lot of time in it, you might as well love it.
Third, it’s definitely worth it to put a little extra money into bedroom furniture. Bedroom furniture really can elevate your private space and make it feel more like a home. Pick your vibe and your wants/needs and get creative. There are so many places that can help furnish your space with chic pieces: HomeGoods, Amazon, Target,Walmart. It’s also important for you to buy pieces that create more space for storage. If your apartment’s anything like mine, there’s no storage whatsoever. So, my furniture becomes where I store the majority of my extra stuff.
