Feast of Fear: The Horrors of Thanksgiving
by Dolfina Allan
With gore, mystery and an interesting story, “Thanksgiving” is the slasher movie of the season.
The movie follows an axe-wielding maniac who terrorizes the town of Plymouth. The sheriff (Patrick Dempsey) is on the case. He talks with a group of high schoolers seemingly targeted by the maniac. Jessica (Nell Verlaque) is the most helpful in giving clues because she survived the most encounters with the killer.
The beginning of the movie starts slow, as most slasher movies do. The movie is taking place during two Thanksgivings. In one scene that spoofs Black Friday sales, greedy customers trample and maim each other as they raid a department store. The events that took place at this one store set off the killer for Thanksgiving a year later.
The movie follows the killer and the themes of Thanksgiving. Let’s just say do not eat when watching this movie; it is one of the most gruesome movies I have ever seen. The way the killer kills his victims and takes care of their bodies is jaw-dropping. The killer splits one person in half, and cooks another in an oven, and serves her like a turkey. Appalling.
