A Good Gig for Dog Lovers
by Maeve Keane
Need some extra cash? Love dogs? A great way for students to make a little money on the side is Rover. Rover is an app through which you can pet-sit or dog-walk. Download the app, submit a little information about yourself, create a profile, submit a background check, and viola. You’re ready to pet sit from anywhere.
Another feature of the app and what makes it so great for college students is you can create your own schedule. On top of work and school, it can be hard to squeeze in a side hustle for some. You can use Rover as much or as little as you’d like. You can host pets inside your home, stay at the pet’s home, or even just take them for a walk in the park. You decide your preferences and how much or little to charge for your services, based on the sitters in your area. Rover will also give you a link to post on social media to market your services.
Rover can be a great supplement to income and a great networking tool as well. Meeting people from your town and surrounding towns to care for their furry friends can open your contacts to a whole new group of people you may have never met otherwise. It’s also a great way to determine whether you’re ready for the responsibility of a pet.
