Honors Club Seeks Donations for Give Hope Where You Live

by Maeve Keane

Cape Cod Community College has many programs that help local people on the Cape and in the communities. One program is the Honors Club, which is hosting a drive called Give Hope Where You Live for household items for the Housing Assistance Corporation to help families transitioning into housing.

“Collection boxes will go out on Monday and be up until around Thanksgiving,” says Professor Kate Martin, who is assisting in the drive.

Students can drop off items to the cafeteria, as well as a drop-off location in the connector between Maureen Wilkens and Frank Wilkens and Professor Martin’s office.

“What we’re looking for are things like everything you need for your home, such as laundry baskets, detergent, cleaning supplies, mops, pots and pans, twin- and full-size bed sheets,” says Martin.

“Housing Assistance’s mission is to strengthen Cape Cod & the Islands region by empowering individuals, fostering community connections, and increasing affordable housing opportunities,” says Christina Wiseman, the Housing Assistance’s Director of Events.

Students and faculty are encouraged to donate anything they think might be of use for families moving into permanent housing. Any questions about the donations or drive can be directed towards Christina Wiseman. Her phone number is 508-771-5400 ext. 271 and her email is [email protected]
