President Savannah O'Brien: Why Student Government Matters
by Joshua Devlin
What is Student Government, and what does it do?
“Student Government serves as the connection between the students and the staff, faculty, and administrators of 4C’s," Savannah O’Brien, the class president, says. "We represent the students and work to create a fair and equitable environment and give a voice to those who may not feel comfortable speaking up for themselves.”
O’Brien has several responsibilities as student president.
“As president, I have many duties, including overseeing the rest of the Student Government, being a leader, keeping the group motivated and on track, and meeting directly with the president, vice president, deans, and Student Engagement. I also run the meetings and sit on several committees, and make reports at College Meeting to keep the student voice present.”
Finally, when asked about her favorite aspect of Student Government, O’Brien said that “My favorite thing is being able to make changes for the better and help other students find what they're passionate about.”
Students who want to learn more about Student Government can reach out to President O’Brien directly, as well as any of the other executive board members, or by attending a meeting. Student Government meets every Friday at 10am, with the option to meet either in person or on Zoom.
