Revival of the Student Government Association
by Colleen Ellis
Joining the Student Government Association (SGA) was a no-brainer for me, and becoming the president of such a valuable organization at Cape Cod Community College has been such an honor. SGA is at a massive turning point, as we have restructured our organization and refreshed. This is all thanks to our former President and Vice President, who put their blood, sweat, and tears into spearheading change both inside and outside our organization. I know I have big shoes to fill as they gave me so much to work with and a stable ground to work on.
What we have planned for the future, even just short-term for this year, is crucial for the future of SGA and I'm so excited. We are currently working on a professional development day, which will be filled with engaging and important opportunities for students to get a head start in the professional world. More details to come, of course, but we have an amazing crew of executive board members and senators who strive to reach the best for our student body.
A lot of people in SGA provide support for each other's clubs. I really cannot say enough good things about our SGA, especially the outstanding students. They make me feel so proud every day and I have much love for them all. They're a huge part of why I have so much confidence in what we will be able to accomplish this year. To think that we have open seats in the senate and executive cabinet, and are looking for even more wonderful people to join our organization is just the cherry on top. Another thing that we want to focus on is collaborating with other organizations; Our last election was sponsored by a handful of clubs here and I want to make this community college, a community in and of itself.
Colleen Ellis is the newly elected President of the Student Government Association.
