Profile Piece: Sherianna Boyle
by Jess Currier
Sherianna Boyle, an adjunct professor at Cape Cod Community College (4C’s), has taught General Psychology, and Yoga 1 and 2 since 2007. Along with being a former school psychologist, Boyle is also the author of nine books revolving around mental health. Soon she plans to publish her tenth book.
Boyle also serves as an Emotional Detox Coach. “I support clients virtually both in groups and individually.” She said. Boyle believes the process of her book, Emotional Detox, is an important part of her history. “I wrote it after going through a horrible emotional experience not knowing that what would come through that trauma is a system (called Cleanse) for emotional processing.” She even presented this system, that she calls Cleanse, to a lot of experts in the field of neurology as well as psychology.
“I was then invited to a round table with some real big wigs (individuals who do brain scans) to present my Cleanse, they used all these fancy terms to describe what was happening”, said Boyle. She went there for support in doing a study for her system. Boyle discussed that while she does not have a study in the works presently, her clients are ample evidence for her that her system works.

Cleanse is an acronym for the steps of her emotional detox. “If I could give myself a shameless plug, I would encourage folks to get the book Emotional Detox Now: 135 Self- Guided Practices to Renew Your Mind, Heart & Spirit”. The cleanses in that book include all areas of one's life, such as cleansing insecurity, doubt, emotional eating, breakups, fear of failure and much more.
Reviews for her books can show people that her Cleanse system works as well. One reviewer from Barnes and Noble said, “Whether you're moving across the world, tired of your circle of friends, just getting out of a toxic relationship, or simply ready to take control of your life and your emotions, Sherianna’s enlightening perspective and C.L.E.A.N.S.E. formula is a great place to start. 5 stars.” Another reviewer said Boyles’ book changed their life. “I can't recommend this book enough. It changed my life,” read the comment, “she teaches grounding exercises that can get you through difficult moments. When I read the chapter Activate Joy, I broke down with relief. It gave me such hope that I would find joy that was within me.”
Boyles’ students agree with the positivity that she shares with them and the world. Saorise Stuttard, a student here at 4C’s, took several classes of hers. “Professor Boyle is a wonderful, kind-hearted professor who takes each student's story into consideration. She is calm, caring and even throws a bit of wit in there.” she said. Stuttard feels honored to have taken both Yoga 1 and 2 with Boyle. “I learnt so much about positions, and breathing, and have since incorporated it in my everyday life to help de-stress myself when challenging situations arise.” Stuttard said. “I genuinely like her as a person, and not just a professor.”
Psychology and COVID go hand in hand as many struggle with mental health during this pandemic. Boyle understands that there are many general stresses of being a student. “In terms of COVID, never underestimate the power of healing and how resilient you can be”, she said. “Fear is so damaging to our immune system. Surround yourself with people who take care of themselves and have faith in their capacity to grow and heal.”
Boyle does something a little different than most professors with assignments. She has her deadlines set at 9 p.m., instead of the typical deadlines that are set at midnight. “Sleep deprivation has a huge impact on your mental and physical health.” She said. “Turn off those darn devices, they are really messing with our hormones.”
Boyle is more than just a professor; she has accomplished so much with her drive to spread her knowledge regarding healing. Her published titles are mentioned below:
