Autumn Feast and Community Donations
by Olivia Ogonowsky
The Annual Autumn Feast hosted by Cape Cod Community College is being held on Thursday, November 18th, and will be located in the Grossman Commons Cafeteria. Students, staff, and faculty will be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal and celebrate the College’s tradition of “sharing a moment, enjoying a conversation, and saying thanks” according to John Cox, President of Cape Cod Community College.
The Autumn Feast will be held at two different sessions this year to accommodate students and faculty in different class cycles. The first session will be at 11:30-1:30, and the second session will be held at 4:00-6:00 pm. “The food pantry will be open as well, following similar timelines” said President Cox. All are welcome and invited to enjoy a delicious plate of turkey, mashed potatoes, and more.
President Cox mentioned that throughout previous years at 4C’s, the college was able to serve up to almost 2,000 students. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, last year’s Autumn Feast was only offered in a drive-thru setting, where the number of students who participated dropped tremendously.
“Covid has challenged us with how we serve our Autumn Feast,” said Cox, “but we’re rising to the occasion. We’re preparing the meal, ready to serve our students, faculty, and staff! While continuing to practice our Covid public health protocols, we’ll welcome our community as we say thanks and break bread.” Masks will be worn while conversing and relaxing while not eating. Additionally, number of seats per table will be limited.
"I am very happy to bring back this thoughtful tradition!" Said Vice President Chris Clark. "Unidine will be preparing the food and President, Trustees and Cabinet members will be serving." For those who wish to attend, but can't for one reason or another, to-go boxes will be prepared.
On Thursday, November 18th, the College will also be having a toy drive hosted by Phi Theta Kappa where people can drop off toys, blankets, gift cards or backpacks. The toy drive will conveniently be held in the Grossman Commons and throughout the same time frame as the Harvest Feast. Cox believes this event truly shares the importance of bringing the community back together. This toy drive will help foster children and their families in our community here on Cape Cod.
Students are also invited to participate in another great event, The Student Wellness Drive For Winter Clothes. For this event, winter clothes, jackets, socks, hats, and gloves are greatly appreciated for our Student Wellness office to supply to any 4Cs students throughout the Winter months.
Join fellow professors and peers on campus from 11:30-1:30, and again from 4:00-6:00 for the autumn feast and/or to donate to the Cape Cod community.
